Louisa Gwin
Louisa Gwin has called Chestermere, Alberta, home for the past three years. With 12 years of experience in the construction industry, she began her career as an apprentice electrician before working her way up to her current role as a Commercial Construction Estimator for a general contractor.
As a woman in a male-dominated industry, Louisa has learned to use her voice with confidence and tackle challenges head-on. Her expertise in estimating and managing budgets for entire construction projects gives her valuable insight into financial planning—experience she knows would be vital in shaping responsible federal economic policies.
Louisa is also a passionate advocate for workplace safety. She played a key role in her company becoming COR-certified and currently leads the Joint Health and Safety Committee, producing and presenting company-wide safety meetings. Having witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of workplace accidents—her father’s career as a lineman ended due to a workplace injury, and she lost a lifelong friend in a tragic workplace accident—she firmly believes that all workers have the right to a safe workplace and to return home to their loved ones every day.
Outside of work, Louisa enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. In the summer, they love camping and exploring new areas of Alberta. She also has a deep passion for the arts, including painting, drawing, sculpting, and creative writing. Upon graduating high school, she received a scholarship for her artistic achievements, which she used to attend fine arts school.
Louisa is proud to call Alberta home. She believes in the strength, resilience, and generosity of Albertans and is committed to making life better for families across the province. With its natural beauty, rich history, and hardworking people, Alberta and Canada are worth fighting for—and Louisa is ready to stand up for their future.
